Tasting The Dirt – Cedar Ledge, PA

Carnage-Cedar-Ledge-PA-mountainboarding

Deep in central Pennsylvania, in a land where fracking is the big industry and cell phone service doesn’t exist, lies the best mountainboard course in the United States. Nestled on the hill behind his thriving apple orchard is Curtis Kelly’s escape, the endless terrain that he and a few other locals have been sculpting for over a decade. Every where you look there is a line, and with a few friends & the will you can ride anything. One of the first lines conceived at Cedar Ledge was by the late Jon Sever who was a local to the park for many years.

This past weekend we returned to the orchard for a few days of earned turns, cliff jumping & another segment of Tasting The Dirt!

Tasting The Dirt – Frisco Bike Park

Benton-Jackson-Frisco-Colorado

A few years back the town of Frisco, nestled high in the Rocky Mountains a mountainbike park was constructed for the public. At the time it was far from perfect, the jumps were just big rollers, the berms weren’t steep enough and speed was impossible to carry. They’ve since vastly improved upon the park and Benton Jackson and I had the pleasure of sharing a few runs together through it. This is the first episode of a new series(it might be a one episode series) i’m calling Tasting The Dirt, raw footage from the parks.

Interview with Dylan “Radface” Warren

Summer Clip Pentagram - Dylan Warren

I just want to start out by saying this took 2 months to put together, and it should have taken 45 minutes. The first attempt to do this interview with Dylan was foiled by my laptop battery running out of juice halfway through the interview. The second attempt had some viscous background noise that I didn’t hear until I started editing it. Then this version the audio was super quiet, so note for anyone planning to record a Google Hangout, make sure to test the audio or get microphones.

Now that the disclaimer is out of the way, here is a little interview with the Aussie Dylan Warren. Over the past 3 years he has sought out the endless summer, travelling between hemispheres with his mountainboard in tow to ride what ever the world puts in front of him. He’s got great style on and off his board and doesn’t give two fucks what you think. In the next 2 weeks he will be dropping his new video part “Summer Clip” and it will not disappoint. Dylan is the man, I’m jealous of the lifestyle he has been living, you should be too!

Summer Nostalgia

Unfortunately this new lifestyle has effected my ability to update The Dirt on a regular basis, so my apologize. to the few readers out there. The one great thing about being a freelancer is your schedule is flexible, for example i’m in a coffee shop in NYC writing this post, I was also able to spend a week riding with Dylan Warren when he came to visit Colorado in August. I also took a trip to Ohio last month with Mason Moor, Dave Starfighter and Devin Garland to ride in some demos at GearFest which turned out to be a really great event.

Anyhow this all saddens me as I know the snow will be coming soon and the hot summer days spent mountainboarding will be a distant memory. Here are a few clips I shot on the Panasonic LX3 this summer.
