If you’ve been asleep for the past two week or had no internet connection then you probably missed out on the release of the Rad Magazine video, Giving Birth to Rad Mag. There is 20 minutes of the dirtiest mountainboard action and the occasional dick, puke or shit shot thrown in the mix. Apparently they have a lot more to share with us with they launch their magazine site, but they want 2000 likes on their Facebook page before they do so.

Over the past few year there has been a serious emergence of Bike Parks around the world. Recently, I made a trip back to my home state of Vermont and rode the Burke Bike Park on the Kingdom Trails which has full lift access and some amazing top to bottom runs. One of there best trails is Knightslayer which has tons of tables and possibly the biggest wallride I’ve ever hit, towering around 25 feet!

Colorado has also stepped up their game with the construction of 4 new bike parks in the past two years. Starting with Rhyolite Park in located the open space of Castlerock, CO, here you will find a long line of rollers berms with an option of hitting a 10 foot wall ride into a 6 pack of jumps. The other stand out park is the Valmont Bike Park in Boulder, CO. Valmont has a wide range of lines and features containing jumps of all sizes, a fast and technical dual cross track and a straight line of jumps into a wallride.

Some how all of these parks fail in comparison to Winterberg in Germany. Maybe it’s the fact that they’ve been catering to mountainboarding for four years now so they’ve got our best interest at heart but the bottom line is they have built a park that mountainboards can absolutely slay!! Here is a clip that was just posted, possibly the best freestyle clip I’ve seen in a year.

It saddens me to share the news that long time mountainboarder and friend Jason “Small Dog” Smalls passed Thursday evening in Seward, Alaska after being in a serious car wreck.

Jason was always a really strong, and talented mountainboarder, and possibly the first to attempt and ride away a double back flip back in the 2006 US Open in Aspen. You will be missed by many Jason, rest in peace.

Summer has arrived, lots of riding, lots of new spots to ride and we’re just two months shy of having out good friends from around the world come out to the states for some riding. Last year Dylan & Nicky Geerse did a transcontinental tour and made a stop in the states for some demos and events. It sounds like it will be going down again. Last week I escaped from behind my computer and took a trip to Belgium where I had the pleasure of meeting two fine chaps from the BFC, Martyn James & Nicky Geerse. The first night we met in Brussels and the night consisted of lots of beer and absinthe, dancing and was proceeded by a hefty hangover in the AM.

That next morning we took a two hour trip to southern Belgium to ride Wayni Park, possibly one of the finest mountainboard parks in the world, complete with a long boarder cross track, tons of rails and some large jumps. Oh ya they have a lift so you never have to take off your board and you can just make laps all day, and you wonder why all the best riders in the world are coming out of Europe. Despite the rain from previous days we were still able to ride most of the park, with the exception of the large jump.

Riding with Martyn and Nicky was mind blowing, the Euros have so much control of there board and even the smallest of tricks look amazing. In a span of 30 minutes I watch Nicky stomp every 540, none of which were huck and all were grabbed, pretty impressive. You can expect to see some web edits coming from Nicky and Martyn’s road trip in the next few weeks on the Yum Yum BFC site and rumor has it they are putting out another full length movie shortly. Looking forward to seeing both Nicky and Martyn over here in the states this summer.

Dylan Warren is a punk bitch but him and the aussie cats he rides with slay. So I want to share some of the trickery from down under, definitely some hammers and a handful of solid slams. Look for Dylan Warren at your local county fair in the states, he’s taking up a new careers as a carny this summer. Enjoy!

Brandon Johanns has been in the process of completing some sort of multi-media, film & design degree, one of his latest projects is called NOMADS.
