#Hashtag the movie – #Mountainboarding happened in 2014

Hashtag-the-movie-mountainboarding

Funny, another year has passed since I posted last, is mountainboarding still alive? Or have been in full hibernation. Apparently it’s the later as i’m here today to drop some knowledge on you about a new digital flick, #HASHTAG, put together by our favorite Aussie cunt Dylan Warren. While I sit in my bourgie Brooklyn apartment and watch the world pass me by these boys have been out every day hustling to collect footage for our viewing pleasure.

Australia has been in the mountainstick game for years, not to mention MBS co-founder Joel Lee is down there helping to shepard in the next generation of riders. The #Hashtag crew is made up of mostly no name cats who haven’t been riding for more than a year but don’t be fooled, these guys rip. A side from the new bloods, you can expect to see parts from Dylan & Andy who you should all be familiar with.

I’ve now watched the video 3 times, and have to share a couple of highlights that alone, are worth the cost of the digital download (you can find here it here, it’s only $8.99).

The opener, Andy Milenkovic, I don’t know if it’s his hair or what but fuck he’s got style and of course a stack of tricks that will make a grown man weep. My favorite maneuvers, frontboard pop-over on the curved rail(check the GIF, BEAST!) and the ender trick is super heavy too!

The mates clip is load with different riders and for a video predominantly focused on street riding this is where you get an array of riding styles, not to mention a few clicks of yours truly riding in some jumps in NYC and Vermont.

If you're ever in Vermont go here, Burke Bike Park!

Then the stubbies, stubbies are the official workmen shorts of Australia, they’re extremely short and the shred kit for Daniel Foreman. I like to protect my ass when riding but Daniel here rips a bunch of treelines with little more than a bikini bottom, what a boss. Joel Lee is obviously a highlight in the mates section, he is still riding loads, holding true to his racer style and even throwing a few rails trick in.

Who’s Matt Wilkens? No idea, but he’s got mad tattoos, holes in his ears large enough to put a baby elephant through and he can ride god damn mountainboard. Matt and the Motorhead got me wicked pump to ride, maybe his part is just more relatable to me but he does a lot of fun tricks.

Radface. He’s had numerous parts drop over the past 3 years all are epic and all stand on their own. Big, fast, progressive and down right scary at some parts, this is Dylan at his best. Streetlines that flow, back 180’s over monster drops, wallrides on everything and the most legit rail riding ever done on a mountainboard. Get a pen and paper out when you watch this one kids, this is how you ride a mountainboard in the street.

Thanks to the Aussies I now have something to keep me sane when the winter gets tough here in the city.

Now support mountainboarding and go buy the digital download you cheap sons ah bitches!

Tasting The Dirt – Burke Bike Park, Burke, VT

Mason Moore and Evan Carlson at Burke Bike Park

There are few places on this earth that I would rather ride than the rolling grass hills of northeastern Vermont. I’m going to come right out and say I’m biased because this is where I’m from, but even still, most people who have visited can instantly appreciate it’s allure. Something about the lush green the landscape, the cool summer breeze, the twisting dusty dirt roads through the shallow valleys, all make it a very cozy & comfortable destination.

Back in August Mason Moore made a trip out to the east coast to help put on a learn to ride at the annual Bike & Brew Festival at Burke Mountain. After a savage night in NYC, we took the 6 hour drive to the Northeast Kingdom in Vermont and immediately got to riding. Staying par for the course with the Tasting The Dirt series, here is some raw footage from the always epic Burke Bike Park & a few other spots around the Kingdom.

Tour Lyfe – Episode 7, Part 1 – Colorado, USA

Brandon-Johanns-Jason-lee

So after a few months in Europe, Radface made his way to the United States. While staying with me in Denver, Colorado, Dylan ate all my food, drank all my beer and broke my couch and we occasionally rode. On one of those occasions we went down to Rampart Range where we met up with the rest of the crew, havoc ensued.

Tasting The Dirt – Cedar Ledge, PA

Deep in central Pennsylvania, in a land where fracking is the big industry and cell phone service doesn’t exist, lies the best mountainboard course in the United States. Nestled on the hill behind his thriving apple orchard is Curtis Kelly’s escape, the endless terrain that he and a few other locals have been sculpting for over a decade. Every where you look there is a line, and with a few friends & the will you can ride anything. One of the first lines conceived at Cedar Ledge was by the late Jon Sever who was a local to the park for many years.

This past weekend we returned to the orchard for a few days of earned turns, cliff jumping & another segment of Tasting The Dirt!

Second Life – Episode 1 – Dubki in Kiev

I had the pleasure of riding with these guys at Breakthrough Fest in 2012. After spending a few days with them I believe they’re probably the most underrated group of riders in the world and super friendly to boot. That said I’m always excited when I see a clip from them pop up because I know I can expect some solid riding. Watch the Ukraine & Russia elite throw down at Dubki mountainboard park in Kiev.

Riders:
Anton Shalamentsev
Anton ‘Xima’ Khimenko
Roman Saulyak
Denis ‘Steel guy’ Priymak
Forest Gump
Evgeniy Vyborniy
Andrew ‘Yenot’ Yenin

Tasting The Dirt – Frisco Bike Park

Benton-Jackson-Frisco-Colorado

A few years back the town of Frisco, nestled high in the Rocky Mountains a mountainbike park was constructed for the public. At the time it was far from perfect, the jumps were just big rollers, the berms weren’t steep enough and speed was impossible to carry. They’ve since vastly improved upon the park and Benton Jackson and I had the pleasure of sharing a few runs together through it. This is the first episode of a new series(it might be a one episode series) i’m calling Tasting The Dirt, raw footage from the parks.

Dylan Warren Summer Clip

The long awaited and highly anticipated part by Dylan Warren is finally here. There is way to much to say about this video, but first and foremost DYLAN is gnarly. Rails, rooftop and cliff drops this clip shows how a mountainboard needs to be ridden.

Thanks for all the hard work Dylan, your efforts for our entertainment and I’m thoroughly entertained!

Pavel Dunaev’s Simple Life

One of the most amazing things about mountainboarding is it’s reach, I’m a rider living in New York City but on the opposite end of the world in Siberia there are rider, specifically Pavel Dunaev. Pavel has been riding hard for many years from podiums at the World Freestyle Championships to crazy freeriding runs in Siberia he is the definition of an all around rider.

Here is the latest, Pavel’s Simple Life.
